THE SHAKTI YOGA WHEEL® STORY

Open your heart and grow like a lotus, is our motto. For us, it embodies the essence of the yoga teaching: to embrace life with acceptance and poise, no matter the situation.  We’re not just a brand, but a way of living, loving and becoming.

Founded in 2015, we come from a true love of yoga, wellness, and community. Together with my husband we started to develop our yoga wheel because we wanted a light weighted, extra strong and eco-friendly wheel with an extra soft mat on top. THE SHAKTI YOGA WHEEL® was born.

As a former speed ice skater and athlete, I had always wished to have a tool that helps me to stretch out my back, decompress the spine and encourage slight traction so that mobility and flexibility of the spine increases.

THE SHAKTI YOGA WHEEL® is a personal passion project that represents a growing group of like-minded individuals. The core purpose of THE SHAKTI YOGA WHEEL® is to showcase our trademark attitude through unique products.

The yoga wheel and its design is heavily inspired by the yoga wheel pose. Before the yoga wheel, the wheel pose has long been a favorite for opening up the spine as well as the solar plexus chakra (the word chakra itself, meaning wheel).  An open solar plexus chakra gives self-worth, self-power, and self-esteem.  We couldn’t think of a better thing to represent.

FIND OUT ABOUT YOUR TRUE SELF AND THE CHAKRA COLORS

The Shakti Yoga Wheel®- Chakra Colors

WHY THE LOTUS? In Buddhism, the lotus is known to be associated with purity, spiritual awakening, faithfulness, and transformation.

The flower is considered pure as it can emerge from murky waters in the morning and be perfectly clean. Therefore in common with Egyptian mythology, the lotus is seen as a sign of rebirth, but additionally, it is associated with purity and deep transformation from the inside out.

Diving into a deep heart opening position is like breaking the surface of what covers our true inner self with deep layers of life given opportunities and stories. These layers and information want to be free and be transformed into something new and inspiring. The leaves of the lotus are being associated with spiritual enlightenment.
